Union has opened a search for a Human Resource Manager with a broad range of
knowledge in human resources. The HR Manager for our growing Community Development
Financial Institution will be someone who can juggle the administrative functions
of personnel with innovative policy development, while dealing effectively with
employees.

The Position
The responsibilities of
the HR Manager are to ensure that personnel and training functions are uniformly
applied, operate within the policies and guidelines established, and comply
with regulations. Major activities include: hiring, training and development,
policy development, payroll and benefit administration. In addition to administration,
HR Manager works to improve morale and productivity, limit job turnover, effectively
use employee skills, provide training opportunities to enhance those skills,
and boost employees’ satisfaction with their jobs and working conditions.
This person will report to the CEO or the COO.
Qualifications
The successful candidate
should have a generalist background in personnel administration, policy development,
compensation, benefits, training and employee relations. Strong written and
verbal communications skills are necessary. Dealing with people is an essential
part of the job. Mastery of word processing required and spreadsheet programs
is helpful. In addition, applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate their
commitment to economic, political, and social justice through professional,
volunteer, or personal activities. Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth community
and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization are essential.
