Business Checking and Savings Accounts

To open a Business Account with AFCU and become a member of our cooperative, you must keep a minimum balance of $5 in your Savings Account. Learn more about your membership here.

Our Business Checking Accounts have no minimum monthly balance and no per check fees. Just one less thing to worry about while you work hard to run your business.

AFCU also offers non-dividend Business Checking Accounts. Ask about this option at account opening to learn more.


To open an account with us, you are required to submit our Business Member Questionnaire (below) prior to account opening

This is required for all business types, and other non-personal account types including Organization/Club, Campaign, Estate, and Trust accounts.

When opening a business account we are required to obtain information verifying the business as well as the individuals associated with the business.

Business must be located within our service area of the following counties: Tompkins, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, and Tioga.

To open a business account you need to have proof of identity, current physical address, and provide the following documents depending on the type of business you have: 

Corporation

To open an account for a CORPORATION you will need:

  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Proof of EIN
  • NYS filing receipt for the Certificate of Incorporation
  • Proof of business address

LLC

To open an account for an LLC you will need:

  • Articles of Organization
  • NYS filing receipt for the Articles of Organization
  • Proof on EIN
  • Proof of business address

*Sole Member LLCs are NOT required to obtain an EIN; they can be opened with owner’s SSN.

*Assumed Names for CORPORATION or LLC

  • NY Dept. of State Assumed Name Certificate (Or Filling Receipt)
  • As well as the required documentation for Corporation/ LLC, above

Partnership

To open an account for a PARTNERSHIP you will need:

  • Partnership Agreement
  • Partnership DBA from County in our Service Area (Partnership Business Certificate)
  • Proof of EIN
  • Proof of business address

Sole Proprietor

To open an account for a SOLE PROPRIETOR you will need:

  • DBA Certificate from a County in our Service Area
  • Proof of EIN, if you have one
  • Proof of business address

Club

To open an account for a CLUB you will need:

  • Proof of EIN
  • Signed minutes stating who is authorized to open the account
  • Proof of business address

Campaign

If opened as “Friends of Jane Doe”

To open an account for a CAMPAIGN you will need:

  • Proof of EIN
  • Signed minutes stating who is authorized to open the account
  • Proof of business address

Campaign

If opened as “Jane Doe for Office”

To open an account for a CAMPAIGN you will need:

  • Campaign documentation from Board of Elections
  • Proof of business address
