Opening an account at Alternatives at the main branch or through one of the school branches makes you a member of the credit union, and eligible to cast a vote in our board elections.

Youth Accounts have a lower minimum balance requirement of $1 and a smaller new membership fee of $2 (waived if the parent/guardian or joint signer is already a member).

Programs like Mad City Money® or the Internship Program do require membership, and we hope that the lessons learned from those experiences will encourage young people to join. When a youth member turns 19, their account automatically graduates into a regular membership account. The school branches accept over 2,500 deposits per year.
