Joining our team
Alternatives is large enough to offer the benefits one would expect to find in this industry, yet still small enough that our employees are involved in the Credit Union’s successes on a personal level. We have a participatory staffing structure with monthly staff meetings. Departmental meetings foster transparency and open communication. Broad descriptions offer employees greater latitude to develop, and we back that development with a policy of promoting from within.
First-year benefits include:
- 18 days paid time off after a three-month introductory period
- 10 paid holidays
- Group Life Insurance
- Individual Health Insurance (75% employer paid) with Family Health Insurance option
- Dental Insurance
- Long Term Disability
- Employee Assistance Program
In addition to first-year benefits, employees are encouraged to learn more about our programs through participation. While Alternatives offers Free Tax Preparation to wage earners based on annual income caps, all Alternatives employees are eligible to have their returns prepared for free. Alternatives employees and their family members may also attend our nine-week Money Wise personal financial management course at no cost.
Employees are also eligible for set discounted rates on specific loans.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming workplace environment that is comfortable and inclusive for all employees. We are proud of our location on the West End of town. Nearby neighbors include the bus station, GreenStar Cooperative Market, Planned Parenthood, Holt Architects, Cayuga Ski & Cyclery, Maxies, On the Street Pitas, The Rhine House, and Rescue Mission shelter. Casual attire and approachable employees help create a relaxing environment for our members.
Thank you for your interest in exploring career opportunities at Alternatives Federal Credit Union. Our application process is done entirely online and is only available when there is an open position with the organization.
