We’re proud of our Education and Training Director, Brendan Wilbur, for being chosen as a mentor for the National Credit Union Foundation’s signature Development Education (DE) Program held in Tampa, Florida earlier this year.
From Brendan:
I had the honor of being chosen to mentor this latest group of Credit Union Development Educators. Part of the CUDE program is helping educate on the history of Credit Unions and why we exist. We are here to serve our communities and that means keeping our purpose constant and reflecting and meeting the needs of our community. This program is to remind Credit Unions why they exist and how they can lead with that purpose, to enhance people’s lives through access to capital and keeping the motto of people helping people at the forefront of decisions.
During the week I got to work with 48 Credit Union professionals from all over the country and help them become certified Credit Union Development Educators. We volunteered at a local food bank to highlight the importance of service and connecting with other local nonprofits who are also working to improve lives in our communities. The participants were given case studies to work on, and they then had to present their solutions and ideas at the conclusion of the week to their peers. Friendships were made, connections were established, and a sense of purpose was shared by all.
Really an impactful and fulfilling week in so many ways.
