When Will My Deposit Be Available?

When you deposit a check, the full amount may not be available to spend or withdraw right away. Before using money from a recent deposit, always confirm it’s available in your account first.

Why Deposits Aren’t Always Instant

Federal rules give credit unions time to verify that deposited checks are legitimate before releasing the funds. This protects you from spending money that turns out not to be there — which could result in an overdraft fee.

How long a hold lasts depends on a few things: the type of deposit, where the check is from, the amount, and your account history.

How to Check What’s Available

Your available balance — the amount you can actually spend right now — may be lower than your account balance if you have a recent deposit on hold.

To check your available balance:

  • Log in to Online Banking and review your transaction history, not just your balance total
  • Call us at 877.273.2328
